The importance of anodes in aluminum electrolysis production
The anode in the aluminum electrolysis cell is the most important part of the aluminum electrolysis production technology, and the anode is often called the heart of the aluminum electrolysis cell.
The anode not only acts as a conductive electrode to introduce current into the furnace of the electrolytic cell, but also participates in the electrochemical process of alumina electrolysis. During electrolysis, oxygen is separated out, and oxygen directly reacts with the prebaked anode, and forms carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide from electrolysis. The tank is discharged, and the aluminum is reduced from it.
In actual production, neither 100% CO2 nor 100% CO2 can be produced, but both. The higher the electrolysis efficiency, the greater the proportion of CO2 produced. The net anode consumption of the prebaked tank is generally 450kg/t-AI. Self-baking cell anode paste consumption is 500-550 kg/t-AI. In actual production, the net consumption of prebaked anode is closer to the theoretical amount of 333 kg/t-AI, indicating that the production is more stable, the current efficiency is higher, and the anode quality is higher. Also, raw petroleum coke, binder pitch, and green anode manufacturing processes will affect the quality of the finished anode.
The importance of anodes in aluminum electrolysis production
The quality of prebaked anodes will directly affect the production of aluminum electrolysis and the improvement of economic and technical indicators. In the same electrolysis production environment, high-quality prebaked anodes can stabilize the production process of aluminum electrolysis, and the main technical and economic indicators are good, especially the current efficiency is high, the environmental condition is good, and the labor intensity of the workers is low. The main manifestations of inferior prebaked anodes are anode cracks, faults, loose (low strength, high porosity), high specific resistance, poor oxidation resistance, high ash content, anode fall off and anode long bags. Cracks on the pre-baked anode will cause the anode and the residual electrode to drop blocks in use, thereby reducing the total area of the anode, increasing the anode current density, changing the anode current distribution, and reducing the current efficiency. The labor intensity of workers also destroys the stable operation of the electrolyzer and deteriorates the environment. Therefore, high-quality prebaked anodes are of great benefit to improving the economic and technical indicators of electrolysis.
