Anode Carbon Blocks

Anode carbon block refers to the carbon block produced with petroleum coke and asphalt coke as aggregate and coal asphalt as binder, which is used as anode material for pre-baked aluminum electrolytic cell. This kind of carbon block has been roasted and has a stable geometry, so it is also called pre-baked anode carbon block, also known as aluminum electrolysis carbon anode.

Anode carbon block is one of the main consumables in electrolytic aluminum production, and its consumption is closely related to the demand of electrolytic aluminum industry. In recent years, the output of electrolytic aluminum in China has been increasing rapidly. With the application of large-scale pre-baked electrolytic cell technology in aluminum industry, the quality and performance requirements of pre-baked anodes used in electrolytic cell have been increasing.

Self-baking aluminum smelters use continuously produced anodes, which are the continuous addition of bitumen to the top of the electrolyzer. The heat generated by the reduction reaction will roast the asphalt into the carbon blocks needed for the reduction of alumina, so that the waste energy in the electrolytic cell can be used.
