6063 aluminum bar is a low-alloy Al-Mg-Si series high-plasticity alloy. Has many valuable features:
1. Strengthened by heat treatment, high impact toughness, insensitive to defects.
2. It has excellent thermoplasticity and can be extruded at high speed into complex, thin-walled, hollow profiles or forgings with complex structures. The quenching temperature range is wide, and the quenching sensitivity is low. After extrusion and forging demoulding, As long as the temperature is higher than the quenching temperature. It can be quenched by spraying or penetrating water. Thin-walled parts (6<3mm) can also be wind quenched.
3. Excellent welding performance and corrosion resistance, no stress corrosion cracking tendency. Among the heat-treatable aluminum alloys, the Al-Mg-Si series alloy is an alloy with no stress corrosion cracking phenomenon.
4. After processing, the surface is very smooth and easy to anodize and color. The disadvantage is that if it is left at room temperature for a period of time after quenching, the strength will be adversely affected (parking effect).
6063 aluminum alloy is a medium-strength heat-treatable and strengthened alloy in the AL-Mg-Si series. Mg and Si are the main alloying elements. The main task of optimizing the chemical composition is to determine the percentage of Mg and Si (mass fraction, the same below) .
1.1 The role and influence of Mg Mg and Si form the strengthening phase Mg2Si. The higher the content of Mg, the greater the amount of Mg2Si, the greater the heat treatment strengthening effect, the higher the tensile strength of the profile, and the higher the deformation resistance. If it increases, the plasticity of the alloy decreases, the processing performance deteriorates, and the corrosion resistance deteriorates.
1.2 The role of Si and the influence of the amount of Si should enable all Mg in the alloy to exist in the form of Mg2Si phase to ensure that the role of Mg is fully exerted. As the Si content increases, the grains of the alloy become finer, the fluidity of the metal increases, the casting performance becomes better, the heat treatment strengthening effect increases, the tensile strength of the profile increases, the plasticity decreases, and the corrosion resistance deteriorates.
