Machinability
The t651 state of 6061 is easier to process than that of 5-series alloy. It shows good machinability when machining with single point or axis diamond tools.
Anodizability
6061 alloy has excellent surface treatment and anodizing properties, especially for hard oxidation.
Corrosion resistance
6061 alloy is an aluminum alloy with high corrosion resistance. The results show that the alloy has good wave corrosion in air and water, almost no stress corrosion fracture and flake spalling. The corrosion resistance of 6061 alloy will not decrease when exposed to high temperature.
Weldability
6061 alloy has good weldability and can be welded by various welding methods. In the heat affected area, the tensile strength will be reduced to 165-200mpa by welding. Its properties can be partially recovered by RE heat treatment, and the corrosion resistance of the weld is also good.
